Following the box office and critical disappointment of Justice League, Warner Bros opted to shift the DC Extended Universe in a new direction. Some projects were put on indefinite hold, others were flat out canceled, and others jumped to the front of the production line while the company tried to figure out what to do with others. Among those casualties was Ben Affleck’s version of The Batman.

Ben Affleck appeared in three of the DC Extended Universe films which included Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League and was set to direct and co-write his own film, The Batman. Unfortunatly, somewhere along the way, Ben Affleck lost his passion for the character and gradually shifted the project and the role to Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson. But at one point, the main antagonist was meant to be Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke.

Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke has so far only had one appearance in the DC Extended Universe. The character had a cameo appearance at the end of Justice League, meeting with Lex Luthor who was trying to set up a league to opposing the Justice Leauge. Sadly it appears that we may never see Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke in a Batman film but that has not stopped some fans from imagining what such a clash would look like.

In a recent post, digital artist Saarukan Suhanthan, posted an image that showed Ben Affleck’s Batman clash with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, giving us an idea as to what such a fight would have looked like in the film. You can see the full image below:

THE BATMAN (2021). (Based off of a screenshot from Batman: Arkham Origins) Man if there was one movie that was never made that I wish was, it would be @benaffleck original Batman movie. I really want to see a capable Deathstroke fighting a skilled Batman, and I really doubt we’ll ever see something like that again. But it is rumoured that the Snyder Cut end credits have something between these two. Really wanted to see @joemanganiello as The Terminator. It’s also rumoured that they’ll be a new HBO Max series based off of Bens script, so who knows what the future of this movie is. – What do you think, how can I improve? – Please Credit if you want to repost – #batman #deathstroke #thebatman2021 #mattreeves #arkhamasylum #benaffleck #joemanganiello #joker #gotham #whatif #dc #dccomics #dceu #batmanvsdeathstroke #likeforlikes #like4likes #followforfollowback #followme #thebatman #digitalart #photoshop #batmanarkhamorigins #wbmontreal #snydercut #releasethesnydercut #hbomax #fanart #deathstroketheterminator

Ben Affleck’s Batman and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke were last seen in Justice League. Here is a plot synopsis for the film:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut will arrive on HBO Max in 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Justice League and Deathstroke and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
