Tom Holland’s upcoming Uncharted film seems to be a cursed production. The film has seen creative teams come and go and directors leave the film during the pre-production phase. It seemed that the film was finally about to get underway when Venom director Reuben Fletcher jumped aboard to direct, but the film is facing one final obstacle in the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Tom Holland’s Uncharted film would be suspending production due to concerns over the coronavirus. What made it all the more ironic and somewhat tragic was that former director Travis Knight actually left the film over the film’s rushed schedule. Now the film has been pushed back entirely.

Earlier today, several Sony projects pushed back their release dates which included the Spider-Man spinoff Morbius and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Now Tom Holland’s Uncharted film has joined their ranks and has been pushed back by several months. The film was originally slated to be released on March 5th of 2021 but has now been pushed back to October 8th of 2021. It is currently unknown how this might affect Tom Holland’s upcoming Spider-Man film.

What do you all make of this news? Are you glad to hear that Sony is pushing back the release date of its films? Will this give the people behind Uncharted the time to properly develop the film? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name, the film is set to chronicle the first encounter between Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake and the fortune seeker and businessman Victor Sullivan. The film is reportedly influenced by a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Directed by Venom helmer Reuben Fletcher from a script written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, Uncharted is being produced by Sony PlayStation Productions, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing alongside Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.

Uncharted will be released in theaters on March 5, 2021.
